This supports a variety of apps for pretty much all channels. If you say cable, you mean cable subscription for channels or physical connection. But either ways this device is wireless and connects faster than roku or chromecast. Hope this helps.

Its a streaming device, you only need a strong wifi connection. I personally cancelled my cable after buying this. Easy to move TV to TV as well. Id recommend checking out some youtube videos seeing as i don't know what channels you watch. I mostly use mine for sports and HBO cuz thats all i ever watched on cable anyways and this is way cheaper. Check out youtube my brother, thats what sold me on buying one

with amazon fire tv stick has all the channels you want to watch, the cable is a whip off, keep your local cable but just get the basic if you want to get the news.
