Some services are free but tend to have a pretty limited selection. Hulu(free version), Crackle, YouTube are probably your best bet for free streaming options as well as network tv apps like nbc, abc, cbs, pbs, etc. The Amazon Fire Stick is best geared for Amazon Prime subscribers. In fact if you are not a Prime subscriber it really wouldn't make sense to choose this device over other streaming devices. But if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber the Fire stick is a must have.

That being said, you would still have to pay a monthly subscription to your Netflix, Hulu, and any other streaming services that you have. This is separate from the Fire TV itself. Hope this helps!
