• i have it on my 7.1 receiver and it works great. I get the full surround from it

• It is full 1080P, so usually with that high level of video it will do 5.1 or even 7.1.

• 2.1 is the best it can do.. Now if you have a speaker system to your TV..The output can be set to external speaker on your TV

• It is capable of receiving Dolby 5.1 but your TV provider must send a signal in that format and each app must support the format.
