Can you use cable apps like hbo go or starz play? Can I use the hbo go app on it? I already have it on my kindle fire so can it be right on the stick or do i need to mirror it on another device. Thank you

I tried searching for both the HBO Go app and the Starz app and the only thing that kept on showing up was the Showtime Anytime app. It looks like for the time being you'll just have to mirror the screen. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if apps like that get added later.

HBO is coming they said, but I am not sure on the stars..(I have Directv and it isn't available on that)

As of 12/6, not yet, but Amazon says it's coming. I also use HBO GO on my Samsung tablet, and it works great. As this is a new device, we have to be a bit patient for more content, and it will come. When the Chromecast device first came out, there wasn't a huge amount of content. Now we see additional content for it on a regular basis. I bought the Fire stick primarily for Amazon Prime, which also works great. I'm also using it for the 30 day trial of Netflix, Amazon Prime music, and Crackle. Everything just plain works.

HBO Go will be available on the Fire TV Stick next year. You may be able to mirror it via Second Screen though.

No, as of now HBO GO and Starz are not supported.
