Only to watch any subscriptions you use. Like Netflix, Hulu, etc. To own the stick, no, there are no fees whatsoever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are no monthly fees to use the Fire TV Stick, however the device does focus on the Amazon Prime service, which costs $99/yr ($8.25/mo basically, but you have to pay for the whole year at sign-up). That said, you can simply not use the Prime features or (for example) use the Netflix app with it and not use any Amazon services if you desire, but that of course means you need a Netflix subscription.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not for the device, but to get the most out of it, you'll want a Prime Membership that is done as an annual fee. It's $99 normally, but if your a college student you can get in for $49 currently. Well worth it at $99 but take the break if you can.
