The remote helps you get around in the Firestick. You will not be able to use your receiver remote to select apps or movies in the firestick. Sorry.

Please try again later.The remote controls the fire stick. you use it to turn it on, scroll through the directory and search for shows. i don't believe your remote has a code to sync with them yet so you could eliminate the remote. i'm sure it will be added for newer tv's
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The remote only controls the selections for the fire tv "channels" and options. You would use your a/v remote to control everything else as normal, including starting the Fire TV, then use the Fire TV remote to move through the Fire TV options.
