A:Answer Yes, you have to pay for Netflix and Hulu but, with them both, you get to watch what you want when you want and, with Netflix, without commercials. You don't need a Smart TV to use FireStick but you need to have a USB slot on a TV to plug it in. I have a Smart TV and I can watch Netflix and Hulu without a FireStick but I cut the cord with Comcast by signing up with SlingTV and getting all the channels I want without paying alot with Comcast. I need a FireStick to get SlingTV and its easier to watch Prime. Well worth the $40.
