• You only need a fire stick if you want or have Amazon Prime video.

• If have a current tv, then no you wouldn't need a Fire Stick, sadly my living room tv is an older first gen Magnavox. It's wi-fi reception was always sketchy. Fire Stick has better connection and way more channel, app options.
