Aside from a high-speed internet connection and your initial purchase of the Amazon - Fire TV Stick, there are no monthly fees that I am aware of, but you do get more content if you're an Amazon Prime Member.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The short answer is yes: The device does require high speed internet and a wireless router broadcasting the high speed internet to access anything with the device. It comes with 30 days of Amazon Prime if you are not already a subscriber, which gives you access to Amazon Instant Video content. You can also purchase content from Amazon (without the Prime membership). Watching other programming such as ESPN, Travel Channel, Food Network, MTV, etc through the available apps require a TV subscription through a supported provider. Watching Netflix or Hulu requires a subscription through those providers.
