Connect it using this cable to any USB charger (one that work for your android phone or iPhone). Or directly to computer.

Please try again later.the usb is your charging cable. you plug it into your computer or other device and it charges your kindle. if you touch the top of your screen you will see several icons. one is a battery that shows you your amount of charge left. the battery is fully charged in about a hour or so and last at least 25 hrs
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Desk-You have to buy a charger separately. It's not included with the Kindle reader, only the Kindle Fire tablet. You can charge it by plugging it into your computer (your computer has to be turned on to charge your Kindle) but that takes awhile. If you use a generic charger, make sure it is the correct power levels=100-240V, 0.15A, 50-80 Hz Input, 5.0v,.085A output. You should be able to monitor your battery levels by looking at the top right on the screen. When you're reading, tap the upper part of the screen and you'll get a little toolbar. At the very top (in the dark strip) you'll see a battery icon. If the icon is all white, it's fully charged. If it's mostly black, it needs to be charged. If it's a combination of black and white, that will give you a good idea of how charged up your reader is.

Or you can purchase an adapter for either car or home charging from many locations, including drug stores. As for when it needs charging, there is an icon in the upper right corner of your Kindle screen that shows a battery. This is your power indicator. Kindles have a very long life, even longer if you keep the wifi off and only use it when you want to download your books.
