QuestionWhat makes the Oasis worth twice as much as the standard Kindle?

- Answer For me, it was the weight. I wanted it to be as light as possible and easy removal of the case. Taking my Paperwhite out of the case was a pain. The Paperwhite plus the Amazon leather case is $119.99 + $39.99 = $159.98 (full price) and the Oasis is $289.99, which includes the case. For me, the Oasis being lighter and easier to hold was worth the $130. I read enough for me to justify the additional cost for those added conveniences.

QuestionCan Barnes 'n Noble books be downloaded on the Kindle Oasis? If so, how is it done and what device is needed to do this?

- Answer Brad's answer is correct, but true only for e-books that do not have DRM (digital rights management) software which most publishers insist on in the belief that it will prevent piracy. Most B&N ebooks (and ebooks sold anywhere else) have DRM. Calibre's program can reformat ebooks which can then be read on Kindles, but Calibre does not have software that will remove DRM.

QuestionWhat is the difference with a kindle that has wifi and 3G, vs a kindle with just wifi? Does the Oasis have both? And what is the advantage of having wifi with 3G?

- Answer 3G/4G is cell phone service only. WiFi is not cell phone service, it's a different wireless way to access a network or the internet.

- Answer The Oasis connects to a WiFi router which may connect to the Internet. Or you can connect it to a PC with the included USB cable.

- Answer E-readers are typically black and white display only. If you read on a phone or tablet using the Kindle app, illustrations in books, and magazines are displayed in full color.

- Answer The colors reference the exterior of the charging cover. The black one is of course black, the merlot is a sort of burgundy/maroon, and the walnut is light brown. The Oasis itself is black no matter which one you choose.
