Hello! Thank you for you question about WiFi compatibility on the Kindle Oasis. In the product specs for the Kindle Oasis it states the WiFi compatibility as, "Supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b, g, or n standards with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)." I hope that helps clear up which types of WiFi the Kindle Oasis is compatible with. Have a great day!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no such thing as 5g wifi. This is compatible with any wifi network. 5g is a cellular network. If you purchase the cellular version of the Kindle oasis, you can pay for cellular service to receive internet connection, however it is only compatible with up to 3g service as of yet. I do believe they are working on 4g and 5g versions for the future.
