They do not interrupt reading. They are book-related ads that show up on the lock screen (when it times out) and at the bottom of a page under the text, which some people say you can suppress those. (but not on the lock screen) Also know that for $15 or $20 you can have customer service remove the ad-supported, which frees it to behave as though the original owner didn't save that money by getting it ad-supported. Some people say that if you are a good Amazon customer and/or the customer service person is in a good mood, then they might do it for free, but no guarantees. Get Amazon customer service clicking on Help at the low end of an Amazon page and answer all the questions as "no, its something else" until they offer a chat with a representative/agent.Also know that for $15 or $20 you can have customer service remove the ad-supported, which frees it to behave as though the original owner didn't save that money by getting it ad-supported. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, Ari! The ads will appear on the lock screen of the Kindle Paperwhite. They will not pop up and interrupt your reading. If you want to remove the ads, you can do that from your Amazon account for a one time fee. Here are instructions on how to do that: 1. Sign in to your Amazon account, and go to Manage Your Content and Devices > Devices. 2. Select the Kindle device from which you wish to remove Special Offers. ... 3. Look for a line that says Special Offers / Offers and Ads. 4. Click the Edit link next to Subscribed, and follow the instructions to unsubscribe. I hope that helps. Have a great day!
