The Kindle Paperwhite can easily be used in the bright sun. The screen is very similar to the texture and look of actual paper. There is also a backlight that can be used to read during the night or in a dark room. For the second part of your question, pictures cannot be loaded onto the device. The Kindle devices are designed for reading only. The memory is internal and there is no SD card slot for additional storage. Have a great day!
