• The bags need to have texture (air channels) on one of the internal surfaces. If you use a regular smooth plastic bag, the bag will just pinch shut and air can't get pulled out of the bag. I buy bulk packs of generic pre made vacuum bags online in various sizes. Faster than custom making bags from a roll and the large quantity generic packs are inexpensive. Just pay attention to the reviews and the thickness of the bags.

• Yes normal vacuum bags work. They need to be vacuum sealable bags not ordinary sandwich bags or zip locks
