Yes, you can use the PBP (acts as 2 monitors) or the PBP 4WIN (acts as 4 monitors; but you need to have two video inputs from each PC). I use the PBP 4WIN which gives me a total of 4 separate monitors, 2 per each PC. This allows the full use of the entire screen, where the PBP could have some black dead space above and below the images. If planning to use multiple PC's, I'd also recommend a USB Peripheral Sharing Switch (allows you to switch your Mouse and Keyboard between multiple devices). I have an IOGEAR 2x4 USB 2.0 Peripheral Sharing Switch, which works great between the 2 PC's I have hooked up to my monitor to use a single wireless keyboard and mouse!
