“The screen has a tag that says "Warning Do not rip off panel film". Does this mean that the panel film should not be removed at all, or to remove it gently?”

its talking about the screen itself, the panel film is part of the screen. i was confused about it at first since it was on the outer frame and on that thin film to cover the plastic bezel(this film may be removed) but the display portion of the screen has a film on it that you don't want to remove.
