“Does it have a power outage alarm/beep? My present battery back-up system has a piercing beep that sounds every minute or two while the power is out. Very disturbing, especially middle of night. Does the APC-Back-UPS 700VA Battery Back -Up System have an alarm system of any sort, and if so, what?”

• Yes. But, the alarm can be muted after you're aware of the power interruption. That's a good sanity feature. ;-)

• YES - it screams at the top of it's beeper and you can't turn the alarm off until the condition is corrected (power restored completely) - you have to power off the unit (and everything connected to it) to make it shut up. Unless you don't have the bucks you should consider buying a different unit - I like the larger APC 1500VA unit - you can turn off the audible alarm on that model with a simple (dedicated) button push.

• Hi, yes, it has a power outage alarm/beep. However, I cannot tell if it is disturbing in the middle of the night because mine is located inside a TV cabinet in the living room, far from my bedroom. During the day the sound is barely noticeable when there are power outages.

• Yes it does.This is the second unit I have purchased and I have been very pleased. The Alarm is loud enough to hear in your sleep.
