QuestionWill this unit work as a surge protector?

- Answer Yes. This product is actually multifunctional. Half of the outlets provide both back-up AND surge protection. The other outlets provide surge protection only. They're clearly marked as to which provide both functions, and which provide only surge protection. Based on 20+ years of experience with APC products, I've never suffered either data loss or equipment damage because of a malfunctioning APC product

QuestionDoes it have a power outage alarm/beep?My present battery back-up system has a piercing beep that sounds every minute or two while the power is out. Very disturbing, especially middle of night. Does the APC-Back-UPS 700VA Battery Back -Up System have an alarm system of any sort, and if so, what?

- Answer Thank you for your recent inquiry. The normal life of the battery will be anywhere from 3-5 years. Depending on the model number, the UPS will either sound an alarm and/or a red replace battery indicator will illuminate. Specific details for your UPS may be found in the user manual.

- Answer Yes it can. You download the software to your computer then connect battery backup to Pc via USB. There are power save options and the option to modify the alarm including turning off

- Answer Output is limited to 700 VA. If your pump draws more than that the UPS will shutdown on overload. If your pump draws less than that, the UPS will power it for a total of 30-40 minutes.

- Answer Yes, this unit has a data port to USB connection that allows you to view the unit from an interface on your computer, using APC software that comes with it called PowerChute Personal Edition. From there you can change the settings and configure your unit to your needs.
