• A UPS is the BEST surge protection you can get. Think of the battery as a buffer between the input power line and your device. You are converting AC to DC for the battery storage and getting your operating power from the battery through an inverter. Nothing better. The backup time it offers is a factor of the size of the UPS and the device(s) you are running off it. A large screen TV on an 850 - 900W UPS will get you 10 - 15 minutes of backup.

• Thank you for your inquiry. Yes it would provide a battery backup and surge protection to your equipment. Just note you wouldn't want to overload the UPS. The unit would support 450 watts so you would want to stay under that.
