I've not experienced much trouble getting a new UPS going. It arrives with the battery disconnected on the positive terminal - to keep from discharging the battery while in storage. I agree it's not real easy to get the positive terminal on the battery, but it really needs to be a really solid connection, so it really should be not so easy. If it was easy to connect, it would also be easy to corrode and come loose. It's the same deal when changing batteries - it's a bit difficult to get the terminals off the old battery and onto the new battery. But I've never had any problems with the battery terminals - they done' corrode and they don't come loose - so I'm OK with them being a little difficult.

The battery connection is snug so the battery doesn't come disconnected. If you are still having issues with the unit please do not hesitate to reach out to an APCbySchneider support team.
