I would consult someone in the medical field about this to see what they would say. I don't think this unit would last very long under constant or frequent use on battery. For something of a medical nature I'd recommend consulting the makers of the unit to see what they would suggest.

This battery backup designed to allow you to safely shut down your equipment in the event of a power outage and its not to be relied on solely to run equipment, especially equipment that decides whether you live or die.
