• Generally a ups system has a surge protector built in... if your looking to use this as well I recommend you plug this into ups.

• Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes this unit would support a 500w PSU. Just note that this is just a surge protector. It would not have a battery backup in the unit. If you did want a battery backup you could go with something like the BN1100M2 and it would support your PC during a power outage. You would still get surge protection but then you would also be able to gracefully shutdown the system if there is a power outage.
