Yes, all the current 27" iMacs have a small door in the back, operated by pushing in the button. Inside are 4 slots for additional RAM, which you can put in yourself. The 21.5" iMacs are the ones without a door, although there are difficult procedures on the web about how to open it up; latest 21.5" imacs [as of March, 2018], have replaceable RAM, but it's hard to get to, you have to open the monitor and remove lots of cables and parts to get to the memory slots and that voids any Apple warranty. I recently added 16GB RAM stick to my iMac (purchased less than 2 months) and now I have 8 GB (original) + 16GB from TimeTech (Made in USA) = 24GB. Works perfectly fine. Just make sure to keep original RAM that came with it in their original slots (2 and 4). I added my 16 GB stick to slot no 1. So now I have 16GB in slot no 1, 4GB in 2 and 4 GB in 4th slot. Third slot is empty for my next 16GB stick :) Just look @ couple of YouTube videos. Plus Apple has very simple and clear instructions on their website (support). It takes about 15-20 seconds for MacOS to register new RAM and then it boots up with an Apple Logo. Until then do not try to do anything and everything will be smooth. Then check out the Storage on your Mac just to confirm.
