These have Bluetooth 5; their range is about 30-50 ft. They were initially released in mid 2021

My wife uses her AirPod Max with old dell computer her company gave her for video conferencing. She will leave her office during the conference call to go to our kitchen to get coffee or tea. Our kitchen is more the 50 feet and three rooms away for her office. She has never lost a Bluetooth connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Bluetooth is 5.0 on the AirPod Max. They work with earlier standards but I am not sure about Bluetooth 1 - that is really old so I doubt it. The range: with other Apple devices range is "everywhere in my house." Phone on the second floor means I can go anywhere in my house without losing connection... as long as the microwave is not on. The Max was announced in Dec 2020, showed in stores Jan/Feb 2021.
