• AirPods Pro can charge wirelessly on a Qi-compatible wireless charging mat (sold separately) or can be charged using a Lightning cable and USB wall adapter (sold separately).

• IMHO a mat is definitely not necessary. I charge mine on an Insignia upright wireless charging stand. A mat is simply another way to charge devices.
