• You can charge the AirPods wirelessly on a Qi charging mat with the case. The only option to charge with the non wireless charging case is with the lightning cable included with the device.

• It allows you to avoid using a cable and the wear and tear on it and the connectors. The wireless charging case allows you to use wireless charging pad. It's not a big difference but I've had cables fail before. However, wireless charging pads vary in price and quality. I found an Anker wireless charging pad on super sale. It seems to work just fine.

• Wireless charging case allows you charge your airpod / airpod case with the wireless charging port. Other than that there is no difference
