• Once your purchase the base station and hook it up, there are no other fees. Of course you pay every month for the internet service you have. I believe this airport version is your wifi base and your back up drive. But by now, you probably have already figured this out. Hope it works well for you and lasts a long time.

• You have to pay for internet service but there is only the one time payment for the router. It just distributes your internet wirelessly through your house.

• Its just like any other router. Once you buy it, its yours. Of course you would still need to have internet coming in for it to route the signal throughout your house or business.
