• A:Answer The one I bought had a two year contract with Verizon. There is a $40 activation fee. I am already a Verizon customer that had a line for my old iPad that I transferred to this new one so they waived the activation fee for me. I don’t know if this reduced price is available online.

• A:Answer You can buy a wireless cellular ipad, and active it at a later time. However you can no buy a wifi ipad and activate for cellular use.
