Q: QuestionI am looking for a kindle reader that has color hi lighting capability, has alpha collection ability, long battery life and large storage. Would this iPad be a better alternative to the Kindle Fire 10.1?

• A:Answer Yes! I've never owned a Kindle, but I have the Kindle app, so I can buy eBooks from Amazon and they automatically download onto the kindle app on my iPad (and iPhone - the bookmarks transfer to each). Very convenient. I definitely recommend this over the kindle since you have many more options. You can read books on the Kindle app, or the Nook app from Barnes & Noble, Apple's iBook app, or the Cloud Library app from your local public library, assuming you have a library card. (Those are free to borrow from the library, btw. You get the use of books for 21 days but can renew if you need more time, so it saves paying for books from Amazon or anywhere else.) Plus, you have access to a zillion things that the iPad can do in general. And if you're a voracious reader like me, who craves information, you can keep Wikipedia and Google Maps open as you're reading so you can enhance your reading experience with extra info and knowledge. You can then archive books so they don't take up memory space, but you can access them whenever you want. All of the highlighting, search capabilities, page layout, font options, etc., are within the apps. Battery life is good.

• A:Answer I highly recommend Urban Armor Gear (UAG) METROPOLIS SERIES. I have kids so my device needs to survive mutiple drops and this is my new favorite case. Previously I went with otterbox because I like their quality and design but the price point are higher than what I prefer. I went with the UAG and am very pleased. Excellent quality and better price point.

• A:Answer I don't know about weight, but pics are easy to upload. There is an adapter to buy, from Apple, that the chip goes in and plugs into the iPad. As soon as you plug it in, it automatically uploads the pics and let's you choose which to keep, and whether you want to leave originals on the chip or clear it. It generally looks like that in the attached pic, although that may not be the exact adapter. Just ask at Apple store, Best Buy, etc.

• A:Answer You can use Airdrop to transfer files between devices (albeit slower than USB). You can also use iCloud backup to backup your old device and restore your new device. The benefit of the second option is that the "restore" on your new iPad can use the USB. Lots of online help available in how to backup/restore an iPad.
