Q: QuestionThinking of purchasing this as a gift for someone who is now using iPad Mini 4. They have not upgraded due to removal of the home button (elderly + hand issues). How difficult/what's new since the iPad Mini 4? Thank You for help, not tech saavy.

• A:Answer You definitely want to upgrade to the newest iPad mini. Not only for its features, but for security purposes. You can upgrade to the most recent iOS version and have peace of mind that your data is safe/secure. As for features, it’s still portable and user friendly. Though there’s no longer a physical home button, there’s a button at the top that has a fingerprint sensor or you can press the button to enter a passcode. You can also purchase an Apple Pencil, which can be used for writing notes or as a stylus (depending on what you’re looking for) Without knowing specific hand issues, it’s still small and has a bigger screen than the mini 4. The screen is brighter and the device is super fast. I hope this helps! If size doesn’t matter, the newest iPad can also serve basic needs. Just not very portable. Good luck!

• A:Answer I hope I am understanding your question correctly. I can access my email, TV shows, Amazon account, print news, other apps, etc. on the iPad Mini via the Verizon FiOS that is in the house. FiOS provides our landlines (yes, we are old school and have two of them), TV, and Internet. Texts and incoming calls (I use the landline or my iPhone to make phone calls) come in on the device via our T-Mobile provider. If this isn’t what you’re asking or want other opinions, I would call Best Buy and speak to one of their technical experts. I love the iPad Mini and this isn’t my first one. I upgraded when there was a good deal including a trade in.
