QuestionDo the new MAC MINI available with an I 7 Intel chip and is the up grade worth? I have a late 2012 Mac mini with an I 7 chip 2.3 GH 4G men and an Intel graphics card.

- Answer No, not really. I had a 2011 Mac Mini died on me so I just bought a new one. The most current Mac Mini's are ALL late 2014 models. I did not realize that when I bought it. The worst part is you cannot put in your own RAM to upgrade unless you know how to undo soldered parts. So technically I bought a 3 year old Mac model whose RAM I cannot upgrade. It is slightly faster than my 2011 model and the hard drive is bigger so there are some benefits but if I had done my homework properly, I might have gone another route.

QuestionDoes the mac mini upgrade to 10.11 or later? I will be using it for all the cc adobe products and travel alot to places with hdmi's and displays all readily available. id rather not lug around a laptop if this little box can do what i need it to.

- Answer This should fit your needs pretty well, but I prefer a LOT more RAM working with Photoshop and the rest of the Adobe suite. I'm running CS5, because I can OWN it... Apple, it's rumored, is supposed to be coming out with a Mini aimed more at the Professional, possibly in Sept., 2018.

QuestionDoes the HDMI port on the mac mini pass through both audio and video or just video ? For example if I wanted to jump the HDMI cord into my surround sound system for audio. Thanks !

- Answer This is the 2014 model. Unfortunately, the RAM is soldered in, so no upgrading. The HD can be replaced but it'd be tricky. Instead of downsizing, you can partition the drive into two 500 GB drives (although it'd be closer to 475GB each)

- Answer Your mid-2011 model iMac MIGHT be upgradeable, both RAM and hard drive. That said, yes, a Mac Mini should be able to attach to your current monitor. What you need to do is figure out which cord is needed to go from your new Mac Mini to your old iMac monitor, as it may require purchasing an adapter (they are widely available). Hope this helps!

- Answer There is no video input on an iMAC. So therefore, it would not work.

- Answer It's a whole new computer you can copy your stuff over to and run faster. You'll need to add a keyboard, mouse and screen.

- Answer I subscribe to Hulu and Netflix. I have had a small number of minor hitches with sound being unsynchronized or momentary halts in the video. I think this is a result of the speed of my Internet connection rather than the Mac Mini. When everything is working fine (most of the time), I have no problems at all.

- Answer I like it because you get all of the benefits of a Mac but without the high price of a iMac. You can add your own peripheral devices as you like to fit what you need. I love mine.

- Answer I have been using the Mac mini at work for numerous years . The start up is never that slow , when and if it has been unfortunately it was time for s clean up of memory or a virus check. Try advast it's a free download. Good Luck

- Answer I don't know, I hooked mine to my TV monitor. If your all-in-one doesn't include a pc hard drive, then maybe it's possible. You could purchase a mini display port to VGA adaptor and connect the pc monitor to the MacMini that way.
