“Is the touch bar version of the mac book pro a better version or is the touch bar more for convenience only?”

• The MacBooks are identical every way except for the additional touchbar feature. Some people really like its adaptability to different applications, but personally I did not get it because it wouldn’t add enough usability to justify the additional $500 or so.
