Adding memory to these things is next to impossible, Apple solders it in on these MacBook Pro's. You definitely would want to buy it already equipped with 16gb if you need more than 8gb. OS X is very memory efficient and it runs great on the 8gb unless you need it for video editing/encoding or some other super memory intensive task.

I do not believe you can add memory to any Apple product, BUT this one has a SD flash card slot. You could supplement the storage that way. You can find that memory on sale all the time at a reasonable price.

The point is, Best Buy is a great store, with great people, and you can go direct to the store with your questions and they will assist you with your options. If like us, you were traveling across America when we bought ours, you can call a store, or go on line and find the nearest store, and go there.
