• If you are using the 3rd generation iPad Air, then the Apple Pencil (1st generation only) will work with your model of iPad, and it will work with any app that builds in support for the Apple Pencil. It really depends on the app itself. I use the Apple Pencil for applications other than Notes.

• If you have an Apple Pencil (1st generation), you can use it with these iPad models: iPad Air (3rd generation) iPad mini (5th generation) iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st or 2nd generation) iPad Pro 10.5-inch. iPad Pro 9.7-inch. iPad (6th generation I hope this helps you. If it is compatible then it should work with apps as well as notes. Hope this helps. Unfortunately it does not work with the iphones.

• Can definitely use it in other apps. I downloaded a pretty neat flash card app and a different design app that I can draw and such with my pencil , hope this helps!

• If the pen is compatible with this version of the iPad, then it will work with all applications that support the use of it. Some applications support the use of the pen while ignoring your hand on the tablet during use. The pen can also be used as a stylus.

• Yes, there are other apps in the app store, one of most advanced is Procreate ($10). There are free apps too.
