No, the Apple Pencil Pro does not work with the 5th Generation iPad Air (M1 chip); the Pro model requires newer M2/M4/M5 iPad Air/Pro models for compatibility, but the iPad Air 5th Generation uses the Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) or the Apple Pencil (USB-C). For your iPad Air (5th Generation), you need one of these pencils: Apple Pencil (2nd Generation): This is the primary compatible pencil, offering magnetic pairing and charging, as noted on Apple Support and Business Insider. Apple Pencil (USB-C): This is also compatible with the 5th generation iPad Air, providing a more budget-friendly option, according to Apple Support. https://support.apple.com/en-om/guide/ipad/ipad47ee2e98/ipados
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 5th Genration iPad Air is not compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro. I upgraded from the 5th Generation iPad Air (M1, 10.9") to the iPad Air M2 (11") and discovered that my old Apple Pencil 2nd Generation did not align with the magnetic charger, and the M2 did not even recognize the older Pencil. I even tried pairing manually through the Bluetooth settings. That is when I noticed that they are not listed as being compatible with each other. I would expect the same problem between the Apple Pencil Pro and the iPad Air 5th Generation (M1, 10.9").
