Is there a warranty on pre owned phones null

Warranty is useless if the refurbished phone was activated more than a year ago. Bought a refurbished iphone 6s from Best Buy in January 2020. It wouldnt work after 6 month use. Best Buy would not honor the warranty since the original activation was 2018. Warranty was already worthless when I bought the phone. Very upset as I paid almost $200 for the phone. If you still want to purchase the refurbished phone, make sure you know its original history through its IMEI. Wont be easy as Best Buy employees are reluctant to open the packaging to get the information. Good luck.
