So, according to 9to5mac: “Apple says the move to the A12 Bionic chip with the new Apple TV 4K enables high frame rate support for HDR and Dolby Vision at 60 fps for a more smooth and lifelike viewing experience. tvOS 14.5 supports high frame rates for AirPlay as well, so iPhone 12 Pro users can wirelessly cast 60 fps Dolby Vision videos to the new Apple TV 4K.” ...that verbiage says to me that they support high frame rate HDR & Dolby Vision for regular use as well as via AirPlay. So it should be both, not just via AirPlay. At least that’s what it seems like to me.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The latest Apple TV 4K is HDMI 2.1 (previous model was 2.0). Both are capable of 4K 60 Hz in Dolby Vision or HDR. 120Hz is only available on the newer Apple TV when tvOS supports it. I thought that was in a beta, but all the features in beta don’t always come out, or get side tracked for additional future beta releases. I don’t think there’s any 120 FPS Dolby Vision or HDR content, but I did read Apple is working with Fox Sports and Netflix to provide some high frame rate content. Putting out high frame rate HDR content in 4K is not trivial to stream and more data intensive than high refresh rate games
