1st connect your TV input to your receivers HDMI output. Then connect your Apple TV to an HDMI input on your receiver. I use a Yamaha receiver (RX-V385BL) and I have my Sony 65" connected to the HDMI output. I connected my Apple TV to HDMI 2, my DVD to HDMI 1. I hope this answers your question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use HDMI cable out of Apple tv to input to your AVR.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have all of our devices (apple TV, DVD player, direct TV receiver) hooked up to our surround sound receiver with HDMI. Only the surround sound receiver hooked up to the TV. On the surround sound receiver there are separate inputs and the input has to be updated to whatever device we are using. The surround sound receiver is plugged into HDMI 1 on our TV and so the TV always stays on HDMI 1. Hope that helps!
