“I have a 2008 Sylvania HDTV (LCD COLOR - MODEL LC420 ( I think 42"). I have been told that an (AppleTV 4K 32GB) will pug into this Sylvania TV and allow me to stream, even tho it is NOT A SMART TV. Will the AppleTV work for me?”

As long as it has a hdmi connection it will work Using them on 2 new tv’s and 2 older at least 10yr old flat screens but they do have hdmi

Yes, Apple TV makes a “dumb” tv a Smart TV. However, you don’t need a 4K Apple TV since you don’t have a 4K TV. Just get the cheaper HD Apple TV.

If the tv can handle 4K then yes. If not get the Apple TV HD. It is a streaming device on its own and works fine with non smart TVs. It just needs an HDMI cable and an internet connection

Yes as long as you have internet access and a hdmi port to plug it into your tv.
