• The 1427 model is the 3rd generation AppleTV and can stream internet content (movies, music, etc.) from Apple, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and other internet sites using 'apps' that are pre-loaded onto the unit. It can also stream content (movies, music, photos, etc.) from a mac computer running iTunes or an iPhone connected to your local network (via ethernet or wifi). The newer AppleTV models can do the same but also allow you to download apps from the internet that will allow you to access newer streaming services that the 3rd generation unit cannot access (e.g. the Spectrum app, etc.).
