- A:Answer Short answer is no, especially if the device you are getting has what they call an electronic SIM card (ESIM). Most devices are no longer using a physical SIM card. If you have an older device say 4 or 5 years old, then yes you might be able to trade/swap sim cards. All this is dependent upon the carrier you use and wether or not they will let you use a physical SIM card from another device or carrier. With technology advancing as quickly as it is, it's becoming more difficult for manufactures to maintain any length of backward compatibility.
