• I believe these can connect to either the Arlo hub, or directly to Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi connection tends to be better as the hub has limited range, but you will lose the ability to record locally on a usb drive attached to the Arlo hub. Either way the the camera is connected it is accessed through the App.

• It comes with a base that needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi before using the cameras. Some can be used without the base and connect to your router
