- Answer I went with the basic and it is $12.99/mo right now with discount. If you have older Arlo cameras with a base, you don't have to have a subscription, however, I opted for the subscription because there are many more features that I think are worth it. Arlo support is very good if you have more detailed questions, call them.

- Answer No, the Arlo Essential XL 2 Outdoor Camera does not have a slot for a mini SD card. The delay when detecting motion is minimal and dependent on other sources such as internet speed and distance from the Arlo Camera to the router.
