• A:Answer yes it records in color, but no sound. Dont waste your money the recordings are sporadic at best, difficult to adjust, and easy for hackers to disable your system. They got about 10k of product from me with not ONE recording durring the robbery, when I needed it.

Q: QuestionCan you select the area of motion detection on the SW? Meaning I could select the space the camera would detect motion like around my front door but not the street?

• A:Answer Yes you can. I did this with my front door camera. There is a pan and zoom in the options to help you do this as well as motion detection sensitivity. My issue was the camera was catching my neighbors driveway a bit. Kept getting alerts every time they went up or down the drive with their car. The pan and zoom let me cut off the sliver of the drive in the cameras view without having to adjust the camera physically again.

Q: QuestionCan you extend recording time? And if watching live, does it record

• A:Answer Yes you can extend recording time beyond the 10 second default. I changed to 20 seconds which seems to work well. When watching live you can record or take a picture by pressing the appropriate button. By default it does not record but uses the picture as the last viewed picture on your camera reference screen.

Q: Questioncan this record to a NAS device on the same local network as the camera? My internet connectivity is not 24x7 , so I would not be interested in cloud use. Is there a PDF manual for the software? I could figure it out from there. Thanks.

• A:Answer The Arlo doesn't have the ability to record to external storage but they just announced an Arlo Pro that has this feature along with rechargeable battery, siren and ability to communicate through the camera.

• A:Answer I have had the system for 3 months and am on the same batteries doing optimized video and 20 second recordings when motion is detected. They claim to last 4 months. They hold 4 batteries and are not expensive. I found 12 replacement batteries on Amazon for 25 bucks. No they cannot be hard wired. This is strictly a wireless battery powered system.

Q: QuestionWhy are add ons so expensive (1 unit pkg is cheaperw/system) and why only 5 cameras?Want to buy this 4 pkg system and from all reviews and product info, says supports only 5 cameras, at which cost of one add on makes system rather expensive to cover more indoor/outdoor areas. Can I buy 2 four pkg systems to utilize coverage better or will there be a conflict with the wifi?

Q: QuestionPerformance in very hot, desert weatherI live in the desert of the SW, USA. During the summer it is 110+ degrees annually, with the highs being 120-122 degrees. The location on my house that I'd like to mount at least two of these cameras on would get direct sunlight for most/all of the day. My question is whether or not anyone has used these cameras in these conditions, and how did they perform? I see that their operating temperature is rated to 122 degrees. Also, how did the heat-based sensors work? Thanks!

• A:Answer I have not tried them in that heat but they have survived very cold conditions completely covered with snow and kept on ticking during and after the snow melted away. I only wished they came with automatic lens wipers to clear the snow away when it sticks and covers the lens.
