It depends on if your device is newer to lock on to the 5GHz wi-fi signal from the wireless router. Check your device's specifications. If it was built after 2013 and has wi-fi 802.11ac then it should be able to receive/transmit on the unlicensed 5GHz signal from this Arris Motorola modem router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When taking to customer service about same issue, he said the 5 was for devices that are closer to the modem. It is faster speed but more limited range. 2.5 is the opposite, longer range but not as fast as 5. I have found this to be true and have hooked up my devices that are in the same room as modem to 5 and others to 2.5, speed on 2.5 is still great. Portable devices like iPad and my iPhone, I just change the connection I want depending on my location.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say for distance 2.5. But for better speed 5.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They will all connect at the same time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Everything works with the 2.5, if the device is 5g compatible (pretty much all new tech) you will see the 5g option when connecting to the network, if it's not compatible you won't get the 5g option.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The wifi settings for 2.5 is when the devices are not in the same room as the modem giving out the wifi signal. The 5.0 wifi signal is designed to have devices connected while in the same room as the modem which can also help with the speed of the devices being on the internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2.5 and 5? That's a router wireless bandwidth not anything with a cable modem. Does not apply to cable modem Use 2.4Ghz for older devices and 5Ghz for anything that is about 1.5 years old or newer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So far, the said connections works for me. one IPad2, two Samsung tables, old MS Vista, two Samsung S5, one S3 and once a while a Samsung laptop with no problem at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.my equipment only allowed me to connect to the 2.5 g speed. I have a laptop with vista and it connected to the 2.5. not the 5. My kids xbox connected to the 5.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Name both networks the same and each device will choose the one that it is capable of using to the best of it's ability. One of the nicer features that makes setup easy for multiple aged devices
