A:AnswerYes it dose. However I had to call the Arris manufacturer to help me with the hook up. I am not very experienced in this and was a little confused with the WiFi aspect .
A:AnswerI have Xfinity also and have had this particular modem for about a month. I have been on the phone with the tech support three different times. And I have had everything checked out and I am still having problems. I am returning it and getting a different modem. Your problems are not your internet, they are the modem. Do not exchange it for this particular model.
A:AnswerIt depends on if your device is newer to lock on to the 5GHz wi-fi signal from the wireless router. Check your device's specifications. If it was built after 2013 and has wi-fi 802.11ac then it should be able to receive/transmit on the unlicensed 5GHz signal from this Arris Motorola modem router.
A:AnswerI wouldn't recommend this router. I have it and I have to reset it every couple of day as it says it's connected with problems. Pain in the butt for me.
A:AnswerMy understanding is that this is for cable based internet only (DOCSIS). Ask your new provider if this would be sufficient. Most providers have a listing of compatible modems. You would just need to give them the make and model number.
A:AnswerHave you tried disabling 2.4GHz? This vastly improved my performance although I have a wireless printer that only works on 2.4 so I had to add a second (different) SSID on 2.4 to add the wireless printer to my home network. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerI'm not a gamer so I can only answer the streaming part of your question. My kids stream movies and shows via Netflix and other streaming services with no issues. I'm assuming you've already ruled out issues with your internet service provider which could be causing the lag so you don't end up spending $ on a new modem/router that you may not need if your ISP is not providing you with reliable speeds. In my area, AT&T is notorious for having issues during peak time because they still rely on the old copper wires although they have started rolling out fiberoptic lines recently. Cable companies tend to have a more stable and consistent connection speed so if your with Comcast/Cox/Time Warner or the like, perhaps your Netgrear is the culprit.
