Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey there Tim, You would have to google it.. I am a tech for Comcast and currently there are a few number of routers that support home phone.. You didn't hear this from me but you can actually purchase the xfinity router from Best buy for 199.00 and that way you avoid paying the lease the only draw back its the XB2 not XB3 model. Hope this helps

I would say take down the model number of this modem and call them to verify that its compatible with their services. Based off that answer make ur purchase. Now to answer your question about one having a battery backup.. the modem your looking at comes from the same line that mine does and there isn't a battery that goes with it. In the box they give you the ethernet cable to connect to your computer and also the power cable to physically plug into the electrical outlet. With connecting your phone, if you have a smartphone like an android or iPhone the wifi could work on the device from the modem. One thing I was advised of also before I made a purchase of a similar modem was to make sure the speed of your internet plan is compatible with modem otherwise that can also cause a lot of issues.

I had triple play, but now just double play because everyone has a cell and who needs home land lines, the if the power goes out in the AREA, then it's still useless, the land line. What I did was get my own modem and then went with Ooma, for the box, $99 and then $3-4 a month in E911 taxes, it's VOIP. Cheaper than leasing a box from Crapcast. I wanted a home line for faxing stuff and it's good for that and the occasional use as a phone, but we use our iPhones or iPads as VOIP phones thru Google Voice, and Google voice is 100% free. So a home land line is becoming less relevant than it was 30 years ago.
