Absolutely, this is a modem like any other. It has no idea what is going to be plugged into it. AirPort Extreme or airport express is just like any other router. Except you get to pay more for them with less custom settings for specific needs, and shorter wifi range... But great routers! lol

Yes the SB airport modem fits almost all set ups and the cost can be recouped in just over a year depending on your cable provider whom it will be unnecessary to rent from.
