• As long as optimum is using cable for there internet services this device should work. You may want to check to see if they use docsis 3.0 as well.

• I would think so. I have DirectPath and all I did was call them and give them the serial number and it started working in seconds. Best buy rep said they would take it back if it didn't work. Works way faster than the cheap equipment DirectPath gave me.
